What do we do?

Marlborough Gardens designs, produces, and drop ships potted bulb gardens for the mail-order catalog and gift industry.

Our gardens are meant to be grown indoors, blooming well outside their natural season through a process known as forcing. Each bulb is carefully potted and allowed to develop strong roots while undergoing precise temperature controls in our cooling chambers - essentially a carefully orchestrated “fake winter.”

Once properly cooled and rooted, the gardens are ready to ship to customers nationwide, where they awaken and bloom indoors, offering a sweet glimpse of spring during the coldest days of winter.

Potted with care, shipped with confidence

Each year, we seek out and trial new bulb varieties for use in our gardens. While many bulbs are not well suited to forcing, our careful research and decades of experience ensure that the products we offer perform beautifully indoors.

We’re proud not only of our products, but of our ability to move them quickly and accurately to customers. From the order portal to the potting bench to the shipping line, our capable team is equipped to efficiently handle even the highest volume of orders without sacrificing care or quality.

In addition to our signature mixed gardens, we ship potted amaryllis, waxed amaryllis, paperwhites, bulb-of-the-month subscriptions, and curated hard-good accessories.

Company history

Marlborough Greenhouses started out as a small retail nursery in Marlborough NH, where in 1988, owners Dale & Diane LaCasse began producing potted bulb gardens in their basement and selling them through an ad in the back of Yankee magazine.

The nursery soon closed as the mail order business took off, and today Marlborough Gardens has grown to supply some of the largest retailers in the floral and gift industry with potted bulb products, shipping hundreds of thousands of orders annually.

In 2022 the business sold to employee Annette Novak, who is dedicated to building on the company's foundational strengths of beautiful design, exceptional quality,  and personalized client support.

In 2023, Marlborough Greenhouses Inc. began doing business as “Marlborough Gardens”,  a small change to help better describe who we are and what we produce.
