What do we do?

Marlborough Gardens designs, produces, and drop ships potted bulb gardens for the mail-order catalog and gift industry.

Our gardens are meant to be grown indoors, outside of their normal bloom schedule - a process known as forcing. The bulbs are potted and allowed to develop roots while undergoing careful temperature controls in our cooling chambers. We essentially give them a fake winter! Once they're properly cooled and rooted they’re ready to begin shipping to customers nationwide, where they’ll bloom indoors and offer a sweet glimpse of spring during the coldest days of winter.

Each year we seek out and trial new bulb varieties to use in our gardens. Most bulbs aren't suitable for forcing, but our careful research and decades of experience ensure that the products we offer will perform beautifully.

We’re proud not only of our product, but our ability to quickly and accurately get it moving to customers. We understand the importance of timely order fulfillment, so from the order portal, to the potting bench, to the shipping line, our capable team can efficiently handle even the highest volume of orders.

In addition to our signature mixed gardens, we ship potted amaryllis, waxed amaryllis, paperwhites, bulb of the month subscriptions, and hard good accessories.

History

Marlborough Greenhouses started out as a small retail nursery in Marlborough NH, where in 1988, owners Dale & Diane LaCasse began producing potted bulb gardens in their basement and selling them through an ad in the back of Yankee magazine.

The nursery soon closed as the mail order business took off, and today Marlborough Gardens has grown to supply some of the largest retailers in the floral and gift industry with potted bulb products, shipping hundreds of thousands of orders annually.

In 2022 the business sold to employee Annette Novak, who is dedicated to building on the company's foundational strengths of beautiful design, exceptional quality,  and personalized client support.

In 2023, Marlborough Greenhouses Inc. began doing business as “Marlborough Gardens”,  a small change to help better describe who we are and what we produce.
